Rohnert Park woman to be tried in child porn case
A Rohnert Park woman can be tried on charges of taking nude photos of two 11-year-old girls in sexually explicit poses and selling them on the Internet, a judge ruled Thursday.
Katrenia Leann Larrew, 28, faces life in prison if convicted of using the girls, including one family member, in a commercial enterprise from September 2012 through October of this year. She also will be tried on charges of engaging in sex acts with one of the girls at her Camino Collegio apartment and counterfeiting money.
The ruling from Judge Peter Ottenweller came after a daylong preliminary hearing in which detectives testified that the single mother sold sexual images of herself over Skype and her own website as part of a “cam model” business.
One of her customers apparently grew bored of her offering and said he would pay her three times her usual fee for images of young girls, Rohnert Park Det. Jon Kempf testified. The customer, a Rohnert Park man, was not named, but prosecutor Holly Holcomb said possible charges against him are pending.
Larrew coerced the family member to participate in order to “pay the bills,” Kempf testified. She dressed her in lingerie and made her perform with her on the live video chat application, Kempf said.
Later, Larrew included the girl’s friend in a series of swimsuit and nude photos, Kempf said.
Larrew threatened the friend to keep her quiet, saying she would burn down her house and suffocate her mother if she told anyone what was going on, the detective said.
But the girl finally reported the abuse to authorities and charges were filed last month. Larrew was held on $5 million bail.
Police seized Larrew’s laptop computer and recovered many of the pornographic images, testified Dave Kahl, a District Attorney’s Office investigator assigned to the Northern California Computer Crimes Task Force.
Among the images was a video recording of Larrew having sex with a dog, prosecutors said. Before the start of her preliminary hearing, Larrew pleaded no contest to a count of misdemeanor bestiality.
Also, Kahl said there was evidence Larrew was making counterfeit $100 bills. Interviews with the two 11-year-old girls corroborated suspicions that Larrew was making fake U.S. currency, prosecutors said.
After a day of police testimony, the judge found there was sufficient evidence for Larrew to be tried on a dozen criminal counts carrying a punishment of at least 15 years to life in prison.
Among the charges are violations of the state’s human trafficking laws including persuading a minor to engage in a commercial sex act.
Larrew will return to court to set a trial date on Dec. 5.
